SBGames - Simpósio Brasileiro de Jogos e Entretenimento Digital
During my undergraduate studies in Computer Science, I used to attend meetings about game development in my region. I remember that back then, many participants raised concerns about the low or almost nonexistent participation of university students in major academic events, such as SBGames. That thought stayed with me until, in 2016, during my master's program, I had the opportunity to attend SBGames for the first time. Since then, I have been regularly participating in the event, including presenting works that received special recognition.
A memorable moment was when my advisor, Professor Dr. Sérgio Carvalho, shared with me his appreciation for the field of games and his interest in the subject. However, he had ended up focusing on other areas of computing. I was extremely happy to be the student who brought this topic back to his research group.
The Brazilian Symposium on Games and Digital Entertainment is the largest academic event in Latin America in this field. In 2024, our research group had students' projects featured, demonstrating our excellence and dedication to this highly relevant and promising area.
This year, my contribution was different. I was not there as a participant, but as a reviewer. I was very pleased to contribute to this amazing event, and I am delighted to know that I was one of the standout reviewers in the Games and Health track. Thank you all for the support and recognition. Many thanks!
"From a Computer Science undergraduate student to a Distinguished Reviewer" — words from my advisor. Thank you so much!
